A certain rebellion

Today, my pen decided to take a rest.
It was 5 past 10 pm.
He refused to be further instrumentalized
and denied his service.
I looked around, uncertain of what to do next.

Nothing
might be the answer,
as it is to all questions.
What can I do about him?
What can I do about me?
What can I do to help him?
To get out of this story?
To get away from it all?
To change? To be who I really am?
Nothing.

Today, my pen decided to take a rest.
It was 5 past 10 pm.

  1. I don't know, I think it's absolutely AWESOME :) but I've already told you that... I think the second "nothing" could even stand all by itself, that would make it even more prominent (obviously) and it deserves that. I like the repetitions and the way they give the poem its structure. You changed it a bit though, haven't you? I think I remember more personal pronouns ;) For some reason, I feel like the first stanza should end after "denied his service", the next line is a new thought and thus feels like it deserves a new stanza as well. Maybe put together with "Nothing might be the answer, as is to all questions" and then have an entire stanza with questions - how would that work?

Love the idea! Funny how a pen on strike can evoke creativity :)
